Checkers Great Escape is a third person action platformer where you play as Checkers the rat trying to escape a lab. The art style is based off of cartoons such as "Dexter's Lab" and "Pinky and the Brain, and video games such as "Epic Mickey," "Ratchet and Clank," and "Hello Neighbor."

As you find ways to escape the lab, you can get power ups to help you progress. The three power ups that the player can acquire are the flatten ability, the flying ability, and the strength ability. The more abilities that the player gets, more of the lab can be explored.
